The Former President's System of Consequences and Incentives

Trump's insatiable urge for payback has quickly transformed into a structured framework. Within the twelve months, the president's anger and whims have taken on the shape of administrative measures in a manner comparable to historical dictatorial governments. Justice department officials who resist his demands are promptly dismissed and succeeded by devotees. Opposing leaders who confront him encounter prosecution, court proceedings and penalties. Critics have been designated under presidential directives as “anti-American”, “opposed to religious values” and “against free markets”, and menaced with legal action as “terrorists”.

Federal Agencies Restructured

Every situation involving prosecution of political opponents and immunity for supporters displays its own particular characteristics. However, regardless of their specific nature, they represent expressions of what has emerged as a calculated method. Such episodes are anything but coincidental. His cleansing of federal prosecutors and law enforcement agents, coupled with his placement of loyalists in key roles, commenced rapidly, promptly took on a consistency, and has now been shaped into a structure. The justice department and the law enforcement agency have been restructured into political bodies under the president's explicit direction to implement his demands. Unfairness has been turned into standard. It constitutes the apparatus of revenge.

Management is focused with targeting the leader's alleged enemies than they are with defending our public welfare.

Within the System

The beginnings of this mechanism has been exposed in the legal complaint of several former top FBI officials submitted in September in the US district court in DC against agency head an administration figure and justice department head Pam Bondi for unlawful firing in “a campaign of payback against the officials for what administration figures considered to be a refusal to exhibit proper allegiance”. The document states that one official, the former acting FBI director, describes a conversation in which the director “openly confessed the unlawfulness of his behavior”.

The official had sought to defend FBI agents from being terminated, the filing alleges. The director told him that “administration officials” – interpreted by Driscoll to be the executive branch and justice department – had directed him to fire all those who they considered as having participated in a criminal investigation against the president. The complaint adds: “Patel stated that he had to terminate the individuals his bosses told him to dismiss, because his ability to keep his own job was contingent on the ouster of the personnel who handled investigations involving the chief executive. Patel commented that there was no way he or the official could do to stop these or any other firings, because ‘the FBI attempted to put the chief in jail and he remembers.’” Once Driscoll told Patel he was breaking the agency's own internal rules, the director allegedly said “he understood that and he was aware the essence of the summary firings were likely unlawful”.

Broad Impact

Following his alleged acknowledgment to Driscoll, the justice department and the FBI have been dismantled and repurposed for the administration's system of punishment. Several of the agency's high-ranking agents were dismissed or forced out in the first days of the government. Approximately numerous professional attorneys at the justice department have accepted a “early exit scheme”. At least multiple government attorneys, including those in the New York office, stepped down in protest over what they regarded as partisan influence in withdrawing the corruption case against the city leader, the mayor, in return for his assistance with the administration's Immigration and Customs Enforcement detentions of migrants. The anti-corruption unit of the justice department, which handles ethical violations, has been diminished to minimal staff. The rights protection unit has been devastated: the majority of its personnel has departed. A third of top officials at the justice department have left. The section enforcing conservation statutes has seen departures of half its management.

Favors and Penalties

Concerning the mayor's situation, the temporary lawyer for the federal division, the official, stepped down in protest against what she labeled as the “trade-off”. A key figure, the president's “immigration leader,” showed up as the enforcer with him on Fox News to declare: “If he doesn't come through, I will return in New York City.”. Additionally, Emil Bove, previously the acting deputy attorney general and a past legal representative, who brokered the arrangement, was awarded an judicial position, a likely stepping stone to the judicial branch.

The president's exemption for crimes carried out while in power, awarded by the extraordinary ruling of the GOP-led on the supreme court, thus preventing his criminal case over the political violence and maintaining his public standing for the national vote, is the basis on which he depends to shield his supporters. With such immunity, he has been empowered to enable wrongdoing. The effect of the judicial ruling permeates his administration and the GOP down to its bones. Trump v United States has escalated. Similar to Richard Nixon's legal adviser he remarked about the Watergate
